Priceline – have you done it?

My cousins were coming up to North Georgia — Young Harris, GA, to be exact — from Florida that week. So Matt, the kids, and I decided to head up that Friday to visit and hang out with them for the weekend. Since they'd have about ten people in the house, Matt and I figured we'd grab a hotel room nearby.

I turned to Priceline and tried their "name your own price" feature. After a little back and forth, I landed a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Blairsville, GA at a rate I felt good about. It was straightforward — pick your area, set your price, and see if it gets accepted.

💡 A few takeaways from the experience:

  • Be flexible on the star rating — it opens up more options.
  • Stick to zones you actually want to stay in; Priceline locks you in once accepted.
  • Check regular rates first so you know what a real deal looks like.
  • For family trips where you just need a clean, comfortable room, it can be a solid way to save.

The stay itself was smooth — the Holiday Inn Express was clean, the staff friendly, and it put us close to family without crowding anyone's home. It was a simple weekend trip, but the Priceline experiment made it feel like a little win.

Have you tried the "name your own price" feature? I'd love to hear how it worked out for you.

I've been curious about the name-your-own-price thing but never pulled the trigger. Your tips are super helpful — maybe I'll give it a shot for our next trip!
